What is the difference between inkjet printers and laser jet printers?

laser jet prints fasterWhat is the difference between inkjet printers and laser jet printers?
An inkjet uses nozzles to spray ink on paper, while a laser printer is internally similar to a digital photo copier, and uses a hot fuser to melt carbon articles onto a sheet. Inkjets usually print color and are cheaper, but usually have crappy drivers and run slow. A good laser shouldn't cost more than a $100, support virtually all operating systems, and will print a real-world 20PPM. Cost per page for a laser is about two or three cents a page, and toner carts last 3000-7500 pages.
