What is the difference between inkjet printers and laser jet printers?

An inkjet uses nozzles to spray ink on paper, while a laser printer is internally similar to a digital photo copier, and uses a hot fuser to melt carbon articles onto a sheet. Inkjets usually print color and are cheaper, but usually have crappy drivers and run slow. A good laser shouldn't cost more than a $100, support virtually all operating systems, and will print a real-world 20PPM. Cost per page for a laser is about two or three cents a page, and toner carts last 3000-7500 pages. What is the difference between inkjet printers and laser jet printers?
