What's the difference between inkjet and laser printers?

Do they both use ink cartridges? Is one better than the other in terms of print quality? What's the difference between inkjet and laser printers?
There's a huge difference between the two.

Inkjet printers work by spraying ink onto a page. They're usually pretty cheap, but the print quality might not be all that great due to the paper used and the quality of the ink.

A laser printer is a whole other paradigm when it comes to printing. The idea goes something like this:

The page to be printed is scanned into the printer and the laser takes over. It fires onto a cylinder a backwards image of the page to be printed. Wherever the laser hits, the cylinder gets a slight electric charge. Toner, very similar to the stuff found in photocopiers, is then attracted to the cylinder. The paper then receives a slight opposite charge to the cylinder and attracts the toner. This passes through a roller to heat the toner and melt it onto the paper. The cylinder is then scraped clean, uncharged and the process repeats itself.

The result is a very clean and crisp image. The downside to a laser printer is the cost and the messiness caused when somebody spills the toner. What's the difference between inkjet and laser printers?
In general terms, laser printers have higher resolution so they have better print quality. Inkjets create images by spitting out tiny droplets of ink, so their resolution is lower. If you look closely at a page printed on a laser printer and the same page printed on an inkjet, you will be able to see that the laser has smoother edges to the fonts.

Inkjets are the way to go (as of 2003) for cheap color printing. Some of the more recent inkjets provide excellent color clarity and brightness, and are very well suited for printing photographs. Also, inkjets are usually quite a bit cheaper than lasers, and color inkjets are MUCH cheaper than color laser printers.

While inkjet printers themselves are cheaper, their ink is much more expensive. Ink cartridges need to be replaced fairly often if you print a lot, and especially if you're printing pictures, and ink cartridges are not cheap. On the other hand, toner for laser printers is pricey, but will rarely need to be changed. If you're using a laser at home, you may never need to change the toner.

All in all, each printer has its function. Inkjets are great for limited home use and for photo printing. Lasers are good for high-volume applications, like offices, or for applications that need extremely high print quality.

Inkjet uses ink cartridges where laser printer uses towner catridges.

Inkjet is based on liquid ink. Laser is based on thermal technology.

Quality of laser output will be much better than inkjet.
Approximately 拢150.
Laser printers have higher resolution and hence better print quality. Inkjet printers create images by spitting out tiny drops of ink, so their resolution is relatively lower. So laser prints have smoother edges to the fonts as opposed to inkjet prints.

Hello,

In comparison to ink jets, laser printers are quieter, faster and remarkably hassle free.

Thanks,

Brayden.
Laser jet printers are slow................................ i think or not!!!!!
One uses sprayed ink and the other uses static electricity to stick 'dust' to the paper then melts it into the paper. Guess which is which.

One uses ink, the other uses dust called toner.

Lasers are (usually) faster, cheaper, often higher resolution and the print is waterproof and smudge proof. But colour laser is very expensive.
One squirts ink at the paper (usually different colours).

The other uses static and electricity to put black powder (toner) on the paper.

Laser printers do not use ink cartridges.

Ink jets have photo-ability.

Laser printers are usually faster but black only.
They both use Ink cartridges, in the laser printer the Ink type is powder but in the ink jet the Ink type is liquid. and of course the laser printer have a very high quality and its better than the ink Jet.
Laser printers use a powder called tiner whereas inkjet use ink.

Laser printers cost more and their images are sharper as they use a photographic technology.
laser printers are superior print quality to inkjet printers.
